I am a big āLittle Houseā fan, and I tried this recipe tonight. Alas, I am not a fan. The flavor just wasnāt my thing. The supermarket was out of chicken breasts, so I used breast tenders instead. I tried to adjust the cooking time, but the chicken came out too dry and the marinade was too strong. It kind of tasted too hot & spicy, and no, I didnāt use cayenne instead of cinnamon, haha! Oh well, thanks for giving me something new to try, and for bringing back memories of a favorite show!

Iāve watched little house, so much ,as I get ready for work at 9 pm I watch little house, I take my hot bath in the morning, when I get home from work no later than 12 pm, when I was young my sister and I would promise each other that one day we would go visit as much as we could of little house,,well today Iām 56 years old and still waiting, one day still want to go, if I had the means and time yes Iād love it,I told my sister recently when will we go, she just laughed at me, but itās ok because Iāll continue to watch little house, and I really donāt eat chicken, but that lemon chicken and cinnamon chicken sounds great Iām going to attempt to make it.

Watched Little House during the stay at home order. Decided to have a finale weekend and I wanted to make cinnamon chicken. This recipe is delicious. The chicken was so juicy and full of flavor!

I made this tonight and it was really great my honey ate 2 large breasts. I marinated it for about 18 hours I didnāt have any apple cider so I used a hard cider it was a bit of a dry hard cider so I added a bit of extra honey to make up for it we are also garlic lovers so I doubled the garlic but other than those changes I followed the recipe exactly and it was fantastic ????

That was absolutely terrible, did it exact and I am also a chef bland,no flavor and all you taste is the apple cider. It needs more spices and seasonings. I am gonna make a new recipe called the mister Edwards. Fire Jack honey jack garlic and hard cider salt pepper and a pinch of chilli pepper

Did you use fresh ground pepper?
And reduce the marinade down to a cup and pour it over the chicken before you baked it after searing each side?
Just asking cause I have a great pallet and have cooked for years and mine turned out great!!

I grew up in a lot cabin my dad built, and Ć lways identified with Laura. I read all the books, and years ago, my mother found me the Little house on the prairie cookbook. I regularly rewatch the series . I find the escape helps me deal with having to live in the world we are in today.

Oh my I can so relate it takes me back to when I was a kid in Jr.High times were so much simpler and the world was a kinder place I like it too because while Iām watching it makes me think of my Grandparents at wondering how they lived ? I may try the (Cinnamon Chicken), it sounds like itās a tasty recipe! Iām from Louisiana, my family likes a little kick of spice in their meal. So when I make the Cinnamon Chicken, I just might put a (Pinch or Dash-but not much at all, of Cayenne pepper in it, bc that was in the actual recipe, from the show. Also to see how it actually turns out, āfor the fun of itā! ????! Still I think my family will Love it!!!

Hi. I made this recipe a couple of years ago. My mother and I found it delicious. Iām sure I put in the cayenne, but donāt remember if it was too spicy. Of course, I like spicy foods. I would recommend it for those who enjoy unusual recipes. Good luck!

Have to confess, I grew up, having a crush on Michael Landon. He was after all a beautiful, kind, much loved by those that knew him man. Recently started watching reruns of āLittle Houseā. Loved the āCinnamon Chickenā episode, and thought it was funny that Almanzo said he in the ā Goodbye Mrs Widerā episode he liked it better than the āaspicā chicken, I have honestly never tried Aspic Chicken, but after looking up the recipe, it sounds really yucky. I was amused to find out there were actual recipes for Cinnamon Chicken. I donāt really like cinnamon, but may just have to try it,

Iāve always enjoyed Little House on the Prairie series..Also laughed about the Cinnamon Chicken episode..The one that brought tears to my eyes was the episode of the elderly widow planning her own wake..Laura was telling another girl that her mother could make the best, Pie Crust Cookies..My grandmothers make them for us and it wasnāt just scraps from making a pie. They were nice big cookiesā¦

I do too! So funnyā¦ā¦I also have anxiety attacks, and feel overwhelmed and stressed. Especially right now when the country seems to be falling apart and COVID-19, social distancing etc. My youngest daughter is 10 and still loves it so we always watch it together. Immediately feel relaxed!

I have been a fan of LHOTP for my entire life. Often, when I am feeling āunsettledā I pop in one of the dvds and by the time the intro is over, my mood has INSTANTLY switched. I like to listen to it while I do chores. I donāt need to actually watch it anymore because I have seen them so much, I can totally picture everything! I and my oldest daughter who is now 42 have watched Little House forever. She and my granddaughter watch it now, so do I at 66, and my husband loves itā¦ā¦2 episodes back to back 5 nights a week. When my husband and I were first married I wanted to make him a special supper. I asked my mom how to fry chicken. She said fry it til itās golden brown. I was in a hurry so I turned up the heat and got it beautifully golden brown. When my husband cut into it, it was raw on the inside. I was 15and didnāt know a lot about cooking then. Weāve been married 35 years and he still hasnāt let me forget that. Ha ha. Iām a much better cook now.

I once tried to make a flan. I wanted to make it in the copper fish mold. You know, the kind for making a tuna or lobster mousse. This way I could say it was a āfish flan.ā I had never made a flan but had just been to a party where snobby friends had served a very ordinary one. Well, I wanted to out do them. Oh I was so ridiculous. It got stuck. It wouldnāt come free of the mold and ended up going down the garbage disposal. It was actually funny because my best friend kept trying to piece it together on a dish. Thank you for the recipe and I cant wait to try to make it. And it was great reading all the responses. You all are great.

Raw Chicken that has marinated , that marinade can be used to pour over chicken? What about salmonella from doing that?

In the directions youāll see the following instructions: āPour the marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and boil until it reduces to 1 cup. This should take between 10 and 15 minutes.ā for this very reason. Boiling would kill off any unpleasant microscopic critters (just like baking the chicken does the same to the raw meat) as well as reduce the marinade into a slightly thicker sauce without wasting it.

You cook the marinade on the stove to reduce it down and then pour it over the chicken and cook in the oven for 30-50 minutes so no bacteria will survive that.

When I first read the books I was a little girl but when I read them again I decided to try the cinnamon chicken. Only I thought all they made back then was fried chicken so I put cinnamon in the batter and it turned out great and now people love my fried chicken but they donāt know I got the idea off of Laura Ingalls and they donāt know my secret ingredient!

My first attempt to make m&m cookies I miss read the teaspoons for tablespoons with the salt.
The salt ate the right threw the candy coating of the m&mās. It all had to be thrown out.Reply

I donāt put salt in my m&m cookies I leave it out and they taste great.
To many people put salt in things thatās why people have high blood pressure . I always omit salt.

I am so thrilled there are still fans out there! I am an uber fan for sure we watch Little House 5 days a week. I have good childhood memories watching it,and I think my daughter has picked up on the good life lessons on the show. I from southern Cal and will definitely go visit Big Sky Ranch where it was filmed. I think it all burned up in one of Caliās wildfires. If I ever hit it big I want to rebuild it seriously I would!

Rose ā The Cinnamon Chicken recipe is not one of the traditional recipes found in the book but was featured in the show. This recipe is just a fun way to try something from the show for yourself. Just donāt mix up the cinnamon with chilli powder! š

Sweetie, they had a place built in the fireplace, that was a good size area to fit baking dishes to a turkey size it was closed off with a steel door. It had a small rectangular shape cut out in the stones for the heat to heat up that area and thatās how they baked bread and cakes and a turkey,etc. They did this till the mid 1860ās when Majestic came out with a full cooking stove with an oven area. Cool huh? Research it and see just how they had to do alot compared to our easy way of today. Have a blessed day.

In this episode, Ms. Wilder was all ready a teenager. Mrs. Ingalls was working in Nellie Olsenās restaurant, which was quite modern for the time period. They had an icebox, as well as working stove/oven.

When I was a young girl (about 12 years old), I came home to a note that my parents left stating that I was to start supper and that we had company coming. Usually, I peeled the potatoes so I peeled an entire 25 pound bag of potatoes and my Aunt was the only guest. Also, to surprise them all, I made a blueberry pie. After all, how hard could it be. I had watched my mother make plenty of them. The pie looked delicious but when my father tasted it ( he was first), he discovered that I had put in salt instead of sugar. My Aunt pretended she liked it anyway. She was great about it.

This story reminds me of one my mom tells. When they were little her sister/my aunt made a apple pie for the company they had coming over. She thought she was using butter when in fact it was garlic butter! Their Grandma pretended to like it too, as that was the polite thing to do. No one else could manage to eat their piece.

When I was 14 I made my first apple pie from scratch I had a recipe it called for a quarter teaspoon or tablespoon canāt remember ur I put a quarter cup of salt. It looked delicious even smelled good took one bite all you could taste was salt.. To this day my mom and step dad give me a hard time and we laugh about it..

I made blueberry bread once and forgot the baking powerā¦they both came out very flat and awful, had to throw both away. Another time I made a huge turkey and the whole pan dropped in the oven when I was trying to get it outā¦(pan and all dropped)ā¦well, a huge FIREBALL came flaming out of the oven!! Scared me badly and I think burned the hair off my arms!! LOL

Happily, my daughter loves it as much as I do and I was reminded again of the existence of something called Cinnamon Chicken as that episode is currently playing. Remember the āstripe it richā cakes that used to be popular? Make a cake, poke holes in it with the end of a wooden spoon, pour instant pudding over the top . . . well, my friend & I decided to make one when we were teenagers. We made a grocery list for her mom, but we neglected to specify āinstantā pudding. We mixed up the regular pudding as if it were instant and poured it over the top. It soaked in and made the whole cake soggy. Nobody, including the cats, would eat it! My friendās younger brother teased us for years about that cake!

I made a honey mustard casserole with cubed chicken and I was supposed to add 21/2 teaspoons of honey mustard to the casserole, the casserole was dry and I should have added water to it to moisten it up but I kept adding honey mustard to the casserole and by the time I was done I added 21/2 jars of honey mustard, it was horrible, my parents didnāt allow me to cook for quite a while, of course now I realized my recipe error and am a much better cook š

I want to try this recipe! It sounds yummy. I botched spaghetti sauce once, and my husband wonāt let me forget it. I was trying to think of a way to spice it up, and the bottle of pickling spice said it could be used in spaghetti sauce. It wasnāt a good choice!

Iām curious about this being the original recipe because Laura was dusting the chicken with ācinnamonā right before placing it in the oven. That isnāt done in this recipe. And how would sprinkling a little actual cinnamon on top affect this recipe?

I canāt wait to try this recipe but I donāt believe itās the original one. Some of these ingredients (like lemon juice) would of been very difficult to find in Dakota Territory.

I have always been curious about Cinnamon Chicken after watching that great episode of Little House. I tried this recipe today and I ended up being pleasantly surprised by the results. The merinade smelled kinda funny, so I was a bit concerned but kept telling myself that the end product was going to be much different because I knew from the ingredients it would carmelize while cooking. And while it was cooking I was a bit worried because it smelled like chicken plus cinnamon roll. Then, I tasted it. I was shocked to find that it had a bit of a kick to it, plus the sweet, caramelized, cinnamon goodness. The ingredients blended into a fabulously simple, yet complex flavor. I love this recipe as much as I love the cinnamon chicken episode of Little House!

If you wanted to freeze them in the marinade you could. Pour the marinade mixture over the chicken and then set some in the fridge to soak overnight (as much as you would cook and eat) but freeze the rest in single-serving-sized portions. Then just thaw and cook a week or two later when youāre ready to eat it again! I do this a lot when I double recipes so I can freeze some for later.
